Somehow we’re half way into January already 😳 That’s one twenty-fourth of the year over. Yikes. Lucky I’ve started these goals! Now its time to share them!
I have 15 goals this year, yep, fifteen! Divided into 3 sections, personal, business, and family. Each goal is also going to be SMART, or Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic and Time-based. This post is clearly part 1, so without further ado…

Goal #1 is pretty straightforward – read 52 books, or a book a week.
I LOVE reading, and I barely ever do it. I have stacks of books I want to read, and I just don’t. So no more excuses! Read the damn books!
S – read 52 books, the type doesn’t matter
M – 52 is a number, so it’s measured, but I’m also tracking via the GoodReads app
A – I think so, and if not, for whatever reason, we reevaluate for next year. But it doesn’t have to be all 600pg novels
R – given that I’m home 90% of the time now, I just need to read instead of binge sometimes
T – I have the year, but one per week is a pretty straightforward time frame to track

Goal #2 is to keep learning!
I have stacks of courses I’m involved in, and things I want to learn (I did a strengths test recently, and whaddaya know, “Love of Learning” was #2). I’ve already committed and started the Healthy Hormone Method with @happyandhealthywithjen (IG); there is a Thieves module on Young Living’s Virtual Office to do; I started an aromatherapy course last year I need to get back to; there’s a Singing Bowls short course I paid for; I have so much Adnamatna to keep learning; I was recently introduced to a language learning challenge; I could literally go on 😂 So I need to work at these!!!
S – make the time to study and learn one of my many courses, build the stusy habit
M – Happy Hormone Method is two months, so that’s measured, put deadlines on other modules, like one per week
A – once the habit is built, one module a week, for example, is only about two to four hours per week, that’s definitely achievable
R – of course constantly learning is realistic! And that one module a week is too
T – one module a week is time based, but I will also set deadlines on specific courses as I start them

Goal #3 is to remove my phone from the bedroom, and has actually been achieved (short term), the goal is of course to maintain it!
I am notorious for playing with my phone too late at night, and ignoring the wind-down function I’ve set, and laying in bed in the morning, sometimes for hours, on my phone. This has got to stop. Sleep is one of my biggest issues (kids aside) and I need to improve it. I make excuses about how I need my phone to know the time, but we’ve mitigated that by installing a Google Nest with a huge clock face I can read without my glasses.
S – no phone in the bedroom at bed time
M – well is it there or not? If it’s not, winning!
A – it’s got to be achievable to use my phone less, and I need it to be in order to improve sleep
R – as above, and the fact that it’s been out of my room a week is a testament to this
T – I originally gave myself to the end of January to do this, but as part of my personal coaching through the Healthy Hormone Method, Jen and I decided that to see faster improvement in sleep, it had to happen by the end of that week, I went to Adelaide that weekend, and since I got back, no phone!

Goal #4 is just to be creative.
This one is the least concrete, but let’s see if I can make it SMART. I used to spin and stitch in front of the telly, why don’t I do that anymore? Colouring in too. And it dawned in me after I made this graphic that I haven’t played piano since the girls were born…
S – enjoy crafty activities as often as possible
M – review this monthly, did I feel like I did crafty things the past month? Do I need to prioritise more?
A – they don’t have to be big projects! Sit at the piano for 30 min. Buy something fun to do (I did this with a Jellystone Bead Kit from @vinnyandcoau (IG) already this year)
R – even if for a week the most creative I get is with my make up, that still counts!
T – refer to M, review it monthly!

Goal #5 is to finally get Laser Eye Surgery.
I am blind as hell, and modern medicine says I don’t have to be! Over got referrals in the past, and been told they’d call me. They never did. And with kids now this will make life way easier!
S – get referral at next optometry appointment, follow up, budget and save
M – measured by the eye chart 😉
A – assuming the price isn’t exorbitant, this can be done
R – I’ve been told it is in the past! Assuming that this hasn’t changed!
T – I usually have my optometry appointment in the April school holidays, this year I’d like to book in and get the referral before the end of term 1. That gives me a lot of year to follow up, and save up
I am already on track with 4 of these! Study, craftiness, and reading is on track! And the phone is out of the room!
Stay tuned for Part 2: Business!

These are some awesome goals. You go girl. Can’t wait to read about the others.
Thanks! I’ve been flat out, and I’m working on a different post atm, but they’re coming!!
